Okinawa - KR6DD
(1962 to 1964)

This is the operating position of my station, KR6DD, on Okinawa. It consisted of a Collins R-390 Receiver, an Eico 723 CW transmitter, and a Hallicrafters HA-5 VFO.  I was one of two stations on the island that regularly worked CW during that period of time.  It was sure fun being on the other end of the pile-up for two years.  During this period of time I was a Morse Code Intercept Operator (MOS 058.3) in the U.S. Army Security Agency stationed at Torii Station, just north of Kadena Circle and the little village of Sobe.

Purdue University - W9JVM
(Additional Station License - 1964 to 1968)

The above photo shows my operating position at Married Students Courts in West Lafayette, Indiana, at Purdue University where I obtained my BS in Electrical Engineering.  The rig consisted of a Johnson Viking II with a Hallicrafters HA-5 VFO (yep, its the one from Okinawa), and a Hallicrafters SX-111 receiver.  The W9JVM call sign was from the era of additional station licenses, and I held it for several years attending Purdue University, and it made it so that I didn't have to continually sign K9TQJ "/" or "portable" 9.

Colorado Springs, CO - W0NGA
(1969 to 1980)

The photo on the left is of me holding my son Rob, who is about 6 months to a year old which makes this photo about circo 1973, probably in the Summer. Notice the 40-foot tower in the background behind me with the drooping inverted "V" antenna. The photo on the right is of my Dad [SK] holding Rob.
